Apple has unveiled a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, complete with a Magic Keyboard, more storage, and an improved processor.
The company discontinued its “butterfly” keyboard mechanism after years-long frustrations over the design. Users found that the butterfly keys often made typos and were capable of breaking when dust went under the buttons.
The Magic Keyboard features a scissor-like mechanism, which was first added to the 2019 16-inch Macbook Pro back in March.
“Whether you’re a college student, a developer, or a creative pro, the 13-inch MacBook Pro delivers powerful performance, a stunning Retina display, and all-day battery life in our most portable pro notebook,” Apple's senior director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing Tom Boger said. “Today we’re adding the new Magic Keyboard, doubling the standard storage, and boosting performance, making the 13-inch MacBook Pro an even better value for our customers.”
The 13-inch Macbook Pro will come with double the storage of its predecessors, starting from 256GB and going up to 1TB.
The MacBook Pro is available for purchase starting from US$1,299.
